21-year-old man killed in shooting in East El Paso, police searching for suspect

UPDATE – El Paso Police confirmed one person has died following a shooting in East El Paso.

Police officers told ABC-7 they arrived Monday evening from the 10000 block of Montwood Dr. were called after reports of a shooting.

When police arrived, they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot. According to authorities, the victim died after being taken to the hospital.

EPPD officials said there were two separate groups of people who were involved in a verbal altercation that later led to the shooting. Authorities say they do not know at this time what led to the altercation.

The Personal Crimes Unit is investigating the fatal shooting.

Police said no one has been arrested but they are asking for the public’s help.

Anyone with information is asked to call El Paso police or Crime Stoppers.

An EPPD spokesman said it was believed this was an isolated case between these two groups. They do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time.

The injured person was taken to a local hospital.
