The Steelers will once again face veteran Russell Wilson and possibly Justin Fields as their preseason battle for the starting quarterback position heats up more than expected. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is looking to make final adjustments and personnel decisions elsewhere, with a Week 1 date looming in Atlanta against the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 8. Coming off a 10-7 season and an early exit from the AFC playoffs, the Steelers will play their first two games of the 2024 season on the road against Atlanta and in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.

The Lions were the darlings of the 2023 season, advancing past the wild-card round of the NFC playoffs for the first time since 1991 and winning two postseason games in front of their home fans. Detroit has the pieces around quarterback Jared Goff to compete for an NFC title again with a strong offensive line, quality players and former first-round picks contributing at multiple positions. Detroit went 12-5 last season and beat the Los Angeles Rams (24-23) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (31-23) in the playoffs before losing to the San Francisco 49ers (34-31) in the NFC Championship.

The Steelers-Lions game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on NFL Network. Live streams are available on FuboTV (free trial), DirecTV Stream (free trial), and SlingTV (discounted introductory rate).
