Police increase security at Des Moines schools after threat

(Des Moines) Des Moines police announced increased security measures at Des Moines schools Monday following a threat against East High School.

The threat circulated on social media late Friday, prompting police to take precautionary measures, although authorities said it was not believed to be credible. Des Moines Schools spokesman Phil Roeder confirmed they are working with police on increased security measures for East High School when classes resume.

Des Moines, East is the seventh largest high school in the state with 2,076 students.
