70-year-old man arrested for raping his granddaughter | News from Dehradun

ROORKEE: A 70-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his 23-year-old granddaughter in a village near Piran Kaliyar. The survivor has “learning difficulties”, police said.
Villagers said the crime took place when the man and his granddaughter were home alone. A neighbor raised the alarm after hearing the woman’s screams and filmed the accused fleeing.
The accused was charged under Article 376 of the Criminal Code (rape) and the woman was sent for a medical examination.“We have produced the accused in court,” said SP (rural) Swapn Kishore Singh.
