On May 22, 16-year-old Jaden Bryant Maples called the Waffle House on Highway 63 and threatened to shoot the customers and employees inside the restaurant. The victim, a Moss Point man, was inside the restaurant and drove away across the highway.

Sheriff John Ledbetter says that at this point, Maples repeatedly rammed his vehicle into the victim’s car. As the car was wrecked, the victim tried to flee. Maples shot him multiple times.

Maples was arrested Thursday after investigators and emergency responders obtained a search warrant for his home. Several weapons and ammunition were found in his bedroom.

He was denied bail at a court hearing on Friday.
