Towing community honors business owner killed in Hervey City shooting

HERVEY CITY, Ill. (WCIA) – Members of the smuggling community in central Illinois came together Tuesday evening to honor one of their own victims killed in a shooting this week.

Gregory Hostetler was killed Monday over a $50 tow, the sheriff’s office said. Officials said he got into an argument with Tiimon Perry, who shot the 48-year-old tug operator in the head.

On Tuesday, family, friends, colleagues and fellow tow truck workers gathered in their trucks for a memorial procession. Hostetler’s nephew Wyatt Wages was among them.

“I would like to thank J&K Towing, TMG Towing, Owens, Precision, Lugari, Richard’s and Shaners for their great support,” Wages said on Facebook. “Greg would have loved that.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover funeral costs. You can find this fundraiser here.
