27-year-old woman seriously injured in boating accident on Abaco – Eye Witness News

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in Abaco are investigating a boating accident that left a 27-year-old woman seriously injured on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that the operator of a 27-foot vessel departed Grand Bahama at approximately 10:00 a.m. bound for Turtle Cay, Abaco, but while en route struck a reef in the waters near Fox Town, Abaco, throwing the victim overboard, who sustained severe head injuries on impact.

A nearby ship rescued the woman and all the boat’s occupants and brought them to shore, police said.

The victim was taken to the local hospital but is being held for further
medical care, the authorities confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing.
