ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing negotiations to trade leading scorer Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans for a package that is expected to include two first-round picks, according to people familiar with the discussions.

People spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the exchange had not been finalized by Friday evening.

Falcons get:

  • Larry Nance Jr.
  • Dyson Daniels
  • 2025 first-round pick (via Lakers)
  • 2027 first-round pick (via Bucks/Pelicans)

The Pelicans receive:

The Hawks are expected to receive center Larry Nance Jr. and point guard Dyson Daniels in the deal, along with first-round picks in 2025 and 2027.

The Hawks have become swing players Zacharie Risacher of France, the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft on Wednesday night before Trading AJ Griffin in Houston on Thursday to secure a second-round pick used to secure the rights to guard/forward Nikola Djurisic from Serbia.

The Murray trade signals that the Hawks’ offseason overhaul may just be beginning.

“We will always look for ways to improve the team.” said general manager Landry Fields Friday during Risacher’s first news conference in Atlanta. Fields would not speak further about possible interest in trading veteran players.

The backcourt combination of Trae Young and Murray produced points but failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Hawks finished 10th in the Eastern Conference at 36-46 this season and have not won a playoff series since reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

The 2025 first-round pick in trade talks was acquired by New Orleans from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the Anthony Davis trade in 2019Details regarding the 2027 first-round candidate were not final.

Murray, 27, averaged 22.5 points with 6.4 assists this season.He averaged 15.4 points in seven seasons, including five with San Antonio.
