Rockets interested in trading for Suns’ Kevin Durant, report says

The Houston Rockets are interested in trading for Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This comes after Houston acquired some of the Suns’ future assets from the Brooklyn Nets in a trade Tuesday night, by Wojnarowski. As a result of the draft pick swap, the Rockets now own a 2025 pick swap with the Suns, as well as their unprotected 2027 first-round pick, and are now linked to a 2029 first-rounder that could become that of Houston in certain results.

Wojnarowski reports that acquiring Durant now becomes “a lot easier” for the Rockets, noting that Phoenix wants to keep Durant now but “that could change next season.”

Wojnarowski’s Notes that the Rockets were intrigued by acquiring Durant, but will now take those picks from the Suns and attempt to be aggressive with upgrades elsewhere on the trade market. He once again confirmed that the Suns want to return with this current group next season.

Durant, 35, has been the subject of trade speculation for most of his career and is going through another headline-grabbing offseason that way. He just completed his second year with the Suns and his first full season after being acquired from Brooklyn at the February 2023 trade deadline.

Durant has two years remaining on his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
