Pedestrian killed in fatal hit-and-run accident, NOPD said

NEW ORLEANS – A pedestrian was fatally injured in a fatal hit-and-run accident Sunday evening at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Ridgeway Boulevard.

According to New Orleans police, the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge area.

Investigators believe the victim was hit by a vehicle that allegedly fled the scene of the accident.

No description of the suspect’s vehicle has been released.

When the emergency services arrived, medical personnel confirmed the victim’s death at the scene of the accident.
