Considerable risk of severe weather on Saturday

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Meteorologist Peyton Sanders says significant severe weather is possible across parts of central and eastern Kansas on Saturday.

The first storms will develop from Hays to Dodge City after 4 p.m., with activity moving into central Kansas during the evening. Storms are possible in the Wichita area after 7 p.m.

Very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are possible as storms continue to move through central and eastern Kansas throughout the evening.

Storms will continue across eastern Kansas after dark and the risk of severe weather will remain. The risk of severe storms will decrease around midnight as the storms move into Missouri.

The rest of the Memorial Day weekend will be quiet, with sunshine on Sunday and Monday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms across northern Kansas cannot be ruled out on Sunday, but the risk of severe weather remains low.

Temperatures will remain warm over the holiday weekend, with daily highs around 27 degrees.
