Summer concerts from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

BPO kicks off summer concert season – tickets available now.

With the beautiful weather we’ve had in Buffalo this week, with perfect sunsets and gentle breezes as day turns to night, it’s time to think about even more summer concerts outside.

The Buffalo Philharmonic has released its 2024 Summer Concert Series, “featuring music ranging from classical masterpieces and film scores to rock hits from Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.”

The season kicks off in traditional form, with the KeyBank Independence Eve concerts during the Bisons game on Wednesday, July 3. The match starts at 6 p.m., followed by patriotic songs and a fantastic fireworks display at 9 p.m. It’s a great way to start the holiday weekend!

Next up is Sunday, July 7, the Ellicottville Summer Music Festival, with the BPO diving into the music of The Who and Led Zeppelin for what is sure to be an energetic audience.

On Thursday, July 11, the BPO String Ensemble will perform a free show at the Central Terminal, starting at 6 p.m., followed by a trip to Artpark for Puccini’s Greatest: an Opera Concert at the interior of the Mainstage theater.

The BPO will then travel to Clarence Main Street Town Park for a free show on Wednesday, July 17 before crossing the Skyway to Outer Harbor Terminal B for the first of two free shows, this time featuring magic Harry’s music. Potter on Friday July 19.

The next day, July 20, join the Concert for Unity at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church starting at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 24, the BPO will perform a free concert at North Park Community School #50, formerly known as North Park Academy, starting at 7 p.m., before moving up to Academy Park in Lewiston on Saturday, July 27 at 7 p.m. another free show.
The season is starting to wind down but don’t skimp on the fun, with a free show at Niawanda Park in Tonawanda on Sunday, July 28 from 7 p.m., before returning to Terminal B in the Outer Harbor for Strictly Hip, performing the music of the Tragically Hip, for its second free show on Thursday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The final summer show of the year will take place at Artpark on Saturday, August 3, when the BPO performs Music of Pink Floyd with the Machine at the Mainstage Theater.
We are so lucky to live in a place that embraces the good weather in every musical way possible!

Tickets and more information on all of these shows are available at www.bpo.org/summer.
