Trae Young, the next team, if not the Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young, the next team, if not the Atlanta Hawks

Like every NBA offseason, this summer will feature stars on the move, and the Atlanta Hawks could be a focal point in the superstar carousel.

Most experts believe the club will trade one of Trae Young or Dejounte Murray, the latter of which is the most popular name brought up in trade speculation among Hawks fans. This is not necessarily the case for fans of other teams.

It’s hilarious too because throughout the season all the fans criticize Trae Young as a player until it comes time for the trade rumors. Then he’s the perfect piece for (insert team here).

I don’t expect the Hawks to trade Trae Young because Tony Ressler is too attached to the superstar. I don’t want the Hawks to trade Trae Young either, but I’ve been wrong about this organization more times than I’ve been right, so who knows?

If the club moves Young, there are a few landing spots that Vegas thinks are the most likely, and both would be equally embarrassing. According to BetOnline odds, the Lakers and Spurs are co-favorites at +300, followed by the Bulls at +900, the Jazz at +100 and the Mavericks, Heat, Raptors and Pistons at +1200.

In any scenario where Atlanta sends Trae Young to San Antonio or Los Angeles, I imagine Hawks fans will sulk. The Lakers don’t have much to offer in terms of young pieces to rebuild, and their draft picks are far from attractive, considering they will be competing for championships.

The Spurs, on the other hand, have a lot of capital to acquire Trae Young, but the reason that would suck for us Hawks fans is because more than likely we’d just get back the picks we sent to San Antonio as part of the exchange. brought Dejounte Murray to Atlanta.

I just don’t know how an inexperienced front office is handling this offseason…
