Coalinga, California – The driver who died in a crash on a stretch of Highway 269 south of Huron over the weekend has been identified as 45-year-old Carmen Avila of Coalinga.

According to police, Avila was driving a Hyundai Accent southbound on 269 when a northbound Toyota Corolla ran a stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side of the Hyundai.
Avila died in the crash.
The other driver was injured and taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. on Highway 269 near Jayne Avenue.

A Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Highway 269 when the driver failed to obey a sign at the intersection and collided with a Hyundai Accent.

The driver of the Hyundai was killed in the accident.

The name of the deceased person was not immediately released.
