HISD Summer School Resumes Monday

HISD Summer School Resumes Monday

All Houston ISD summer school students will return to class starting Monday, although they may not be in their regular classroom.

HISD spokesman Joseph Sam released this statement Sunday:

“All HISD summer school students will return to class tomorrow. Students who normally attend a campus that does not yet have power will attend classes at a different site. Families will be contacted directly by their summer school campus with information on where their student will attend classes tomorrow.

Drop-off and pick-up locations will remain the same. HISD will transport students between summer school sites if necessary.

We asked how many schools were affected – last week there were reports of 60 schools being out of service – and will update this article once we have a response.

This year marked the first time HISD students had a longer summer session. The extra weeks were added at the request of Superintendent Mike Miles. HISD also plans to start regular fall classes earlier than in the past after receiving the state’s Innovation District designation that allows it to set an earlier schedule.

The first day of school for HISD is scheduled for August 12.
