Buffalo officials warn of illegal dumping

Authorities have issued a warning that dumping is illegal in the city of Buffalo after a large amount of trash was dumped early Sunday in the city’s Leroy neighborhood.

City spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said the warning was issued after trash was found on land next to Elim Christian Fellowship Church at 70 Chalmers Ave.

Public Works Department crews cleaned up the trash before morning worship services began, DeGeorge said.

City residents are advised that they can drop off their trash for free at the East Side Transfer Station at 793 S. Ogden St. Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Proof of address must be provided along with a driver’s license and utility bill.
