Closures announced as Tropical Storm Beryl heads toward Southeast Texas

Tropical Storm Beryl is potentially heading toward Houston, bringing with it the risk of severe weather. Here is a list of closures, which will be updated as more information becomes available.

Alvin Community College

Due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl, the ACC is closed and classes are cancelled for Monday, July 8th. Please check ACC social media and the ACC website regularly for more details. For the latest information, please visit the ACC website: www.alvincollege.edu.

Brazosport College

Due to the anticipated weather conditions from Hurricane Beryl, all classes and operations at Brazosport College, including the Bill & Julia May Children’s Center, will be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024. Kids Colleges for children ages 6-8 will also be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024. Final exams for Summer Term I (first six weeks) are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with grades due by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024. The last day to withdraw from classes for Summer Term I (eight weeks) has been extended to July 10, 2024. Additionally, Summer Term II (second six weeks) classes will begin on Monday, July 15, 2024.

University of Houston-Victoria

The UHV Victoria campus will be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024 due to the potential impact of Hurricane Beryl. This closure is being conducted as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and faculty. All UHV operations, classes, events, and activities are cancelled. We will provide an update on the status of campus reopening by Monday afternoon. UHV Katy will remain open at that time.

San Jacinto College

San Jacinto College will be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024 for all classes, operations, and activities. The closure will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.

Wharton County Junior College

Due to Hurricane Beryl, Wharton County Junior College will be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024.

All classes and activities are cancelled for July 8th. Watch wcjc.edu for updates.

Crosby Independent School District

The Crosby Independent School District will be closed on Monday, July 8th due to concerns over the arrival of Hurricane Beryl. Additionally, the 21st Century Summer Program and all other summer student activities are cancelled for Monday, July 8th. We ask all of our families to stay safe and be aware of weather conditions in the coming days.

College of the continent

Due to the impending impact of Hurricane Beryl, the College of the Mainland (COM) will be closed on Monday, July 8. All classes and campus operations at all COM locations are cancelled at this time.

Future updates will be shared via COM alerts.

Hitchcock ISD

In response to the anticipated impact of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Beryl, Hitchcock ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8. This closure includes any scheduled summer camps or practices. The safety of students, staff, and the community is our top priority.

Cleveland Independent School District

As a precautionary measure due to the weather conditions expected for the Houston metro area, all Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be CLOSED on Monday, July 8. This includes all summer activities, trainings, workshops and professional development events.

We will update the community on plans for Tuesday, July 9th in the near future.

Dickinson Independent School District

Due to potential severe weather from Tropical Storm Beryl, the Dickinson Independent School District will be closing on Monday, July 8. This includes summer employees and all student activities. Please check the district website and social media for updates on Tuesday. Stay safe!
