Houston Police Engage with Community Through Positive Interaction Program | Texas

Houston, TX —The Houston Police Department (HPD) recently hosted a community engagement event at its mounted patrol stables, featuring Officer James Sobota and sponsor HEB.

The event, which is part of the Positive Interaction Program (PIP) and is coordinated by the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance (GHLPA), gave attendees the chance to meet Buddy, a beloved HPD horse known for his love of morning peppermint candy. The initiative aims to foster community engagement and provide meaningful experiences for attendees.

For those interested in joining the HPD team, opportunities are available in law enforcement, community engagement and animal care. Prospective members can call 713-308-1300 or visit www.hpdcareer.com for more information.
