Boy died after medical incident ‘outside the pool,’ says Orange County water park

Wild Rivers Water Park has released a statement regarding the incident at the park that left a young boy dead on Saturday.

The Irvine-based park said a 12-year-old boy suffered a medical emergency outside a swimming pool on Saturday. After a “quick” response from emergency services, the boy was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

His name and official cause of death were not disclosed.

“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement said. “We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”

Irvine police announced the death on Sunday, saying it was “not water related.”

Wild Rivers Water Park was originally open from 1986 to 2011. The current version and location at 10000 Great Park Boulevard opened in summer 2022.
