Death of inmate investigated by Greenville County Coroner

The Greenville County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate. According to the medical examiner, 39-year-old Michael Clarkson was found in critical condition in his cell on Friday. Clarkson was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries on Saturday, according to the medical examiner. Clarkson is the man accused of killing 40-year-old Colleen D’Ortona in Travelers Rest. The medical examiner says the time and manner of death are still unclear, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. SLED is also investigating the incident.

GREENVILLE, SC —

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate.

According to the coroner, 39-year-old Michael Clarkson was found in critical condition in his cell on Friday.

Clarkson was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries on Saturday, according to the coroner.

Clarkson is the man accused of killing 40-year-old Colleen D’Ortona in Travelers Rest.

The coroner says the time and manner of death have not yet been determined and an autopsy is planned for Monday.

SLED is also investigating the incident.
