Farooq Abdullah calls on international investigative agencies to probe recent killings in JK |  India News

POONCH: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chairman Farooq Abdullah condemned the shooting of a man and a couple by terrorists in two separate incidents in Shopian and Anantnag and said terrorism continues to exist here.

“There is still terrorism here. No matter which party member he (BJP chief and ex-sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh) belonged to, it needs to be investigated whether he targeted anyone. Whether he was killed by terrorists or people here before pointing the finger at someone, it needs to be investigated quickly,” said Farooq Abdullah in an exclusive interview.

He further stressed that such attacks will have a negative impact on the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Tourists were also attacked in Pahalgam. This is a tragedy, it is affecting our tourism industry,” said the JKNC boss.

Farooq Abdullah called for international pressure to be built and for an investigation into the recent killings involving international investigative agencies.

“Yesterday I said that there will be no talks with our neighboring country (Pakistan) until terrorism stops. We need their cooperation. We have to identify the person who comes here and kills innocent people. “International pressure must be brought to bear and international investigative agencies must investigate the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile, a former BJP sarpanch, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, was killed and a couple from Jaipur injured in two firings by terrorists in Shopian and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir late Saturday evening, police said.

In the second incident, a couple from Jaipur was injured in Yannar area of ​​south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Police said that the terrorists shot and injured a woman named Farha, a resident of Jaipur, and her wife Tabrez at Yannar in Anantnag. The injured were evacuated and taken to hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the condition of the injured couple is stable.
