“Non Compos Mentis” about sexual obsession

The unstoppable Paul Schrader, the 77-year-old auteur who just brought his latest film, “Oh, Canada,” to Cannes, has announced his next project.

The director revealed that he plans to begin production this fall on “Non Compos Mentis,” a noir film he is currently writing. The title is derived from the Latin phrase meaning “insane.” That’s not all the film is about, as according to Schrader the project is about “sexual obsession.”

“It’s about the stupid things men do for love,” Schrader explained on stage at the festival press conference for “Oh, Canada.” He and producer Daniel Gonzalez have already secured financing and are in the casting process.
