Atlanta Braves MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. separates in history with another mammoth HR Friday

After a slow start to the season in the power department, Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. broke out in a big way on Friday, hitting a mammoth home run against the New York Mets.

Although Acuna Jr. was only 1 for 5 overall, his third home run of the season traveled 461 feet and further separated him in baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

RONALD ACUÑA JR

461 PI
114.2 mph

Acuña now has 12 career HRs over 460 feet, 3 more than anyone in MLB since the start of 2018

Acuna Jr. hit 41 homers last season en route to winning the National League MVP, so we know the power is there, and maybe that will help him get going in 2024. So far , Acuna Jr. has only three home runs. to go along with nine RBIs and a .259 average.

He’s not the only star getting off to a slow start this year. Corbin Carroll (.555 OPS) and Julio Rodriguez (.606 OPS) also look to significantly slow starts in the power department. All three players are All-Stars and you have to understand that they will start at some point.

After the Braves’ win on Friday, they are now 23-12 on the season, trailing the Phillies in the National League East by 2.0 games. The Mets are 18-19 after the loss and are already down by eight.

The Braves and Mets will face off again Saturday afternoon with first pitch from Citi Field at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Max Fried (ATL) will face Christian Scott (NYM).
