One was arrested after a gas station robbery in Manitowoc

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) – One person is in the Manitowoc County Jail following a robbery at a gas station just before noon Thursday.

At approximately 11:42 a.m. Thursday morning, the Manitowoc Police Department responded to 2914 Calumet Ave. for a report of an unarmed robbery at a gas station. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived with an undisclosed amount of money.

With help from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, search teams began tracking the suspect’s movements using a drone and a K9 named Rocky. Meanwhile, Rocky led officers to a discarded piece of evidence and then to a nearby apartment complex, where officers obtained surveillance video from people nearby. This led them to determine that the suspect had been in the area and was picked up by someone in a vehicle.

Officers then learned that the suspect had been seen in Green Bay, and with the assistance of the United States Marshal Service – Great Lakes Regional Task Force, the suspect was located and arrested. The suspect is currently being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on probation pending a criminal complaint.

At this time, the Manitowoc Police Department does not believe this poses a threat to the public and would like to thank the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Rocky, and the United States Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force for their assistance.
