Houston Texans’ Christian Harris Showcases Elite Improvements During Minicamp

The Houston Texans finished their mandatory three-day minicamp Thursday afternoon. And if their performance at the Houston Methodist Training Center is any indication of what awaits them in 2024, the Texans could be on the verge of championship contention.

One player who stood out during minicamp was third-year linebacker Christian Harris. The former Alabama prospect has many believing the 2024 season could mark a Pro Bowl-caliber year, considering how many plays he made against the Texans’ presumptive No. 1 team.

On Wednesday afternoon, Harris recorded an interception in the middle of a CJ Stroud pass attempt to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. In the latest episode of Locked On Texans, Big Sarge Media LLC’s Brian Barefield discusses Harris’ ceiling and its impact heading into his third season.

“For Christian, it was just a matter of confidence — just believing you can make those plays,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “He’s talented. He has all the athletic ability. Now he keeps believing. Once he crosses that threshold of belief, that’s when you see him take off.”

Harris was the Texans’ third-round pick (75th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. In his first two seasons, he recorded 175 total tackles, 12 pass deflections and 3.0 sacks.

“He made play after play for us in crucial moments of games,” Ryans said. “He stepped up and made big plays for us just because, aside from technique and all those things, you have to believe that you can make plays in this league and believe that you’re a playmaker.

“Now he knows it, and he walks that way, and it’s really cool to see him show up and play again today, playing all over the court. He’s a guy I’m proud of. So proud to see its growth.”
