The May 17 incident occurred after 51-year-old Todd Christopher Marchetti broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend Allie and her son Jaxson and held them hostage for several hours, according to the report.

According to the report, Allie managed to develop strategies to seek help, including a trip to the vet after Marchetti shot the family dog. She then approached nearby construction workers and asked them for help so she could contact emergency services.

When police arrived at the scene, gunfire erupted inside the home, leading to a standoff, according to the report. Despite efforts to negotiate with Marchetti, he remained inside the home.

According to the report, Marchetti was killed at the scene by a self-inflicted gunshot wound before the house caught fire. Jaxson, who has undergone multiple surgeries, is expected to recover. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Allie and Jaxson.
