Live updates from Auburn’s crucial SEC battle against Oklahoma

Auburn closes out its five-game home season opener with another important SEC game on Saturday as Oklahoma visits Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Tigers are 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the SEC after losing to Arkansas last week. The Sooners are 3-1, 0-1 after losing to Tennessee a week ago.

Auburn is 0-2 against Oklahoma, with both meetings taking place in the Sugar Bowl. The Sooners won 35-19 at the end of the 2016 season, following the 40-22 season in 1971.

On ABC, kick-off is officially scheduled for 2:30 p.m., but in fact it could be closer to 2:45 p.m.

FIRST QUARTER

3:25 – Auburn defense forces a three-and-out and Oklahoma punts. The Tigers take over at their 40 after a booming kick from the Sooners’ Luke Elzinga.

5:27 – Auburn tries the QB power sweep with Sam Jackson and he can’t get in. Oklahoma takes over at 1, still leading 7-0.

5:32 – Auburn prepares for 4th-and-1, but Oklahoma calls a timeout after some substitution confusion. After the TV break there is a big game coming up.

7:27 – Auburn tries the Wildcat with Sam Jackson at QB, but he is stopped to no avail. Thorne comes back in on 2nd down.

8:05 – First-and-goal for Auburn after Thorne climbs to the 6.

9:16 – Auburn at the Oklahoma 16 after a 14-yard pass to Robert Lewis, an 11-yard run by Hunter on the fake flea flicker and a 20-yard pass to KeAndre Lambert-Smith.

12:10 – Auburn converted third-and-10 with a nice second attempt from Jarquez Hunter on the fast screen. Tigers on their 40th birthday

12:30Touchdown, Oklahoma. Quarterback Michael Hawkins storms untouched up the middle and scores a 48-yard touchdown on third-and-5. Oklahoma 7, Auburn 0, 12:30/1Q. Just a disastrous start for Auburn.

1:50 p.m – Auburn goes 3 & out with a completion for no yards, a 2-yard loss on a Jarquez Hunter run and an incompletion on third down. Cam Coleman with another drop on third down. Oklahoma’s ball is on the 32 after the punt.

3:00 p.m – As expected, Payton Thorne starts as QB for Auburn. The Tigers took over at their 25-yard line after a touchback on the opening kickoff.

Oklahoma wins the coin toss and adjourns. Auburn will receive the opening kickoff.
