First Alert Weather: A hot holiday weekend

First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is watching a hot Fourth of July holiday weekend and keeping an eye on some storms.

There will be isolated to scattered evening storms inland, but otherwise it will be warm and humid tonight.

On Independence Day, you can expect partly sunny, hot and humid weather, typical for the season, with highs around 30 degrees.

There will also be some storms near I-95 as they move further inland during the afternoon/early evening. Most of the storms will have passed by 9 p.m., except for a few locations west of Highway 301.

Friday and Saturday will be hot with only isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, temperatures will rise well above 30 degrees, the perceived temperature will be between 39 and 42 degrees.

In the tropics, powerful Hurricane Beryl will move along the southern coast of Jamaica to the Yucatan Peninsula by Wednesday evening and not far from Cancun on Friday. From Sunday evening to Monday, it will then move to the upper coast of Mexico or to the far south of Texas.

There will be no local impacts or impacts across Florida.

AT THE MOMENT: Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms inland…partly sunny with temperatures in the 90s.

THE TROPICS: (1) Hurricane Beryl is approaching Jamaica and the Cayman Islands tonight…the Yucatan by Friday and will then arrive in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. It will make landfall on the northern coast of Mexico or extreme southern Texas on Sunday/Monday – no local impact. (2) A tropical wave is moving into the eastern Caribbean and has some long-range impact potential, but remains well south of Florida.
