Christian rockers STRYPER performed at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo, New York, Saturday, June 8, as part of their “To hell with the amps: the Unplugged tour”. The characteristics of the trek STRYPER playing the band’s recently released debut acoustic album in its entirety, “Acoustic”. The double-disc set includes an audio CD and a DVD/Blu-ray video recorded and filmed at SpiritHouse Studios in western Massachusetts. The 11-track acoustic collection includes stripped-down versions of STRYPERclassic songs – ranging from energetic pieces “Loud and clear” And “Soldiers under command” to fuel the ride “Honestly” – plus a previously unreleased version of an enduring anthem “Amazing Grace”.

“We’re excited to show people a totally different translation of these songs,” STRYPER lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter Michael Sweet said in a statement. “Most acoustic shows will be in smaller, more intimate venues, and the decor is naturally more toned down. It will feel like a family affair, like everyone is sitting in our living room and listening to us play.”

Soft added that the band will follow the acoustic stints with a full 40th anniversary tour that kicks off on September 13, 2024. “The anniversary tour will feature songs spanning our entire discography,” he revealed. “We will perform a set consisting of our classic songs, then play a second set featuring newer material.”

Soft further shared that the group’s concerts will feature everything from increased production to wardrobe variations. “We will change the outfits from a classic look to a modern look, with suitable production,” he said. “It will certainly be unprecedented as it is important to find a unique way for fans to celebrate this milestone anniversary with us.”

Additionally, the group plans to offer an exclusive pre-show VIP experience to its loyal followers. A 45-minute meeting with STRYPER will include a private screening of a short film featuring archival footage and photos and a brief question-and-answer session with bandmates.

As for future plans, the band just finished recording another full-length studio album. Soft described as “all killer and no filler”. The expected release date is Fall 2024.

“We hope this continues the trend of our music getting better with each release,” Soft said. “It’s full of high quality tracks and great energy.”

STRYPER also made solid progress on a highly anticipated project Kickstarter-powered documentary film. More than 1,700 donors pledged $220,000 to help bring this project to life and helped the group far exceed its initial funding goal, earning the “Projects We Love” label on the popular crowdfunding platform.

“We found a brilliant director, Chris Atkinsand it’s being filmed now,” said Soft, adding that images will be captured throughout the rest of this year. “We’re excited to see this finally happening.”
