Newport man charged with sexual abuse of child

Newport, NH – A Newport man is being held without bail after being accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 16.

Ryan Barbin, 41, of Newport, NH, was arrested by Rochester police on Wednesday. Police say Barbin sexually abused a child under the age of 16 on more than one occasion, and investigators say Barbin knew the child beforehand.

Barbin is charged with aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, illegal possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property while knowing it was stolen.
