Teenager injured in shooting on Tuesday evening in Childersburg; investigation ongoing

CHILDERSBURG, Alabama – Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, Childersburg Police were called to the intersection of Ferry Road and U.S. Highway 280 for multiple reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found several people shooting at each other with firearms.

One person, a 16-year-old girl, was struck by gunfire and subsequently transported by private vehicle to Coosa Valley Medical Center (CVMC) before officers arrived. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Three shops and as many vehicles were also hit by gunfire.

During a related disturbance at CVMC, the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force made arrests and filed charges for marijuana possession.

Police investigators are combing through available video footage from the crime scene to determine both the number of perpetrators involved and their identities.
