Double murder near Nolte Local Park: MCPD and park police launch investigation

According to Montgomery County police, two 20-year-old men were shot and killed near Nolte Local Park in Silver Spring on Sunday evening.

Officers arrived at the scene in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. and discovered two men with gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

MCPD released the following statement Sunday evening:

At approximately 6:57 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police Department – ​​3rd District and Maryland Police Department – ​​National Capital Park responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found two dead 20-year-old men at the scene.

There are currently no suspects in custody.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

As soon as further information is available, a press release will be sent out with the names of the deceased.
