After a rough start to the season marked by penalties and turnovers, the Eagles and Packers put on a fireworks show in Brazil, but it was Saquon Barkley who stole the show in the Eagles’ 34-29 victory. The former Giants running back signed a three-year, $37.5 million deal in the offseason that is paying off after just one game.

Barkley tied an Eagles record with three touchdowns in a debut – a mark set by Terrell Owens in his first game with Philadelphia in 2004. He had 24 carries for 109 yards rushing with two rushing touchdowns and had two receptions for 23 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Jordan Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns for Green Bay, but was knocked out of the game and had to be helped to the sideline with five seconds left as the Packers desperately tried to win. Malik Willis came in and threw an incomplete pass, then was tackled by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun to end the game.

Live52 updates

  • Willis fired for trying to end Eagles’ win

Zack Baun got the sack to secure the win for Philadelphia.

  • Love Collapses for Green Bay

Jordan Love twisted awkwardly on the ground as the Packers tried to get into position for a Hail Mary. He was able to throw the ball back to Josh Jacobs and was helped off the field with five seconds left. Malik Willis would enter the game for the final play(s) as Green Bay punted to the Philadelphia 47-yard line.

  • Eagles score late field goal to take five-point lead

The Eagles got down to the 1-yard line when the drive stalled, leaving the Packers with 27 seconds left.

  • Hurts delivers again to Smith for a big first down

Breaking that trend, with the clock running down and the Packers having a timeout and a two-minute warning, Philly elected to punt and get a first down inside the 10-yard line. The Eagles can run most of the remaining time, as Green Bay can only stop the clock one more time.

  • Clutch first down on a Hurts-Smith connection

With 2:15 left, Green Bay began using its timeouts with Philadelphia on the 18-yard line. The Eagles’ drive had now traveled 53 yards in 11 plays and taken 5:42 off the clock.

  • Penalties continue to weigh on Green Bay

Green Bay has been penalized twice for holding the ball, and both times it resulted in automatic first downs while the Eagles were behind the chains. Green Bay has now been penalized 10 times for 71 yards with less than 4 minutes left in the game.

  • LeBron James enjoys the show

  • Barkley over 100 yards

Philly is leaning on its new bell cow late in the game with Saquon Barkley running the mail to work the clock. He’s rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries with five minutes left.

  • Narveson strikes from 26 yards to reduce the deficit to two

Brayden Narveson made up his earlier miss to pull Green Bay within two points (31-29). With less than eight minutes left in the game, Green Bay should get the ball back. Will Philadelphia be able to protect the ball enough to set the tone for the game, or will Jordan Love and company have another chance to win? Either way, Brazilian fans are in for a wild ride in the NFL’s first visit to South America.

  • Barkley joins elite Eagles team with three TDs

  • Another big hit for Jayden Reed

3rd and 5 and Love finds Reed on a deep cross for 26 yards, and the Packers are just outside the red zone. Reed now has 105 receiving yards for the night

  • Josh Jacobs Takes on Another Big Hunk

Jacobs ran for 75 yards on the play after a 32-yard run that got Green Bay moving. It took Green Bay a good chunk of the game to get going, but Green Bay’s offense has been in great shape for most of the game since the second quarter.

  • Jaire Alexander makes a huge play, intercepting Jalen Hurts in the end zone

Alexander may have kept Green Bay in the game, throwing the Packers’ second interception of the night. Philadelphia still leads and got big nights from Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown, but the three turnovers crippled the offense at critical moments in the game.

  • Saquon Barkley carries Eagles into fourth quarter

After the missed field goal, Barkley ran 34 yards to get the ball into Packers territory and improve his big numbers. Through three quarters, he has three touchdowns and now has 94 rushing yards on 16 carries. Last season with the Giants, Barkley topped 94 rushing yards just once — a 128-yard effort on 36 carries in a loss to the Jets.

  • Green Back is back on another march and has the ball just outside the red zone

  • Another kick!
