Reporter’s Weird Prediction For Bills WR Mack Hollins

Reporter’s Weird Prediction For Bills WR Mack Hollins

Is this sensationalism or is the writer simply not paying attention to what is happening at One Bills Drive?

THE Buffalo News recently listed seven potential candidates for the Buffalo Bills cut, and one of them, in particular, doesn’t seem to make much sense.

The article claims that receiver Mack Hollins is on the roster “bubble” when I believe he is firmly in the team’s plans for 2024.

The Bills signed Hollins early in the offseason, suggesting they may have had interest in the versatile veteran at one point. His career numbers are far from flashy, but he brings value on special teams and a notable presence in the locker room.

Bills starting quarterback Josh Allen has already singled out Hollins for his approach and work ethic.

“I appreciate the guys for their hard work and the type of presence they have on the court, especially Mack Hollins,” Allen said during OTAs. “Again, he’s the guy that’s pushing guys right now. He’s a good talker. He’s a bad talker, too. He’s very realistic. I appreciate the edge he brings in this room right now and the way he pushes these guys and the way these other guys respond.”

Allen does not sound like he is talking about a potential candidate for removal from office with these highly complimentary words.

Hollins, who had 57 receptions for 690 yards and four touchdowns in 2022, won’t replace Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis in Buffalo’s passing game, but he’s a capable receiver who brings important intangibles to the table. Hollins started games for four different teams, including the Super Bowl LII champion Philadelphia Eagles, before arriving in Buffalo.

“Mack Hollins has worked his ass off. I think he’s No. 1 in the Iron Bills Games rankings right now,” veteran tight end Dawson Knox said. “Mack has been unbelievable, he works so hard.”

If Allen and Knox’s comments aren’t enough to gauge the impact Hollins has already had, then watching receiver Khalil Shakir should help.

“I think in our front office right now, he’s probably the one that talks the most. He brings energy, he brings juice, he talks trash, whatever it is, he’s great,” Shakir said after an OTA workout in May.
