Fort Totten man arrested after standoff with Grand Forks police in July pleads not guilty to three counts – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – A Fort Totten man waived his preliminary hearing Monday, Sept. 16, and pleaded not guilty to three charges that arose after an hours-long standoff with Grand Forks law enforcement in July.

Collin Wade Posey, 32, is charged with three Class C felonies: burglary, obstruction of justice and criminal damage with intent to cause property damage between $2,000 and $10,000.

Posey faces up to five years in prison.

The conflict began on July 22 after an FBI agent requested police assistance at a Grand Forks apartment building where Posey, a wanted fugitive at the time, was believed to be staying, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

According to a Grand Forks Police press release issued after the incident, he had five Grand Forks County warrants and two federal warrants out for his arrest.

When the FBI agent tried to arrest Posey, he allegedly jumped into the apartment building through an open window, the affidavit states.

After approximately seven hours of attempting to lure Posey out of hiding, officers entered the apartment and took Posey into custody.

Posey’s next court date, a final hearing, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 12.
