Buffalo Bills

Some view the Bills as a franchise that missed its title window, having given up expensive players like WR Stefon Diggs in an effort to rebuild. But when you have a Pro Bowl QB like Josh Allen in the midst of his prime and a five-year stretch of playoff appearances, it’s more accurate to say they’re “reloading.” The roster will be different this year, both on offense and defense, but the Bills have done a good job filling the gaps with steady veterans and talented rookies.

Buffalo Bills 2024: The best fantasy scenario

Josh Allen remains the franchise’s most important fantasy player, but the big question this year is how he’ll perform with a revamped receiver cap and changes on the offensive line. The team’s top two receivers are gone, and with their departures, 241 targets are freed up starting in 2023, meaning plenty of opportunities for Buffalo’s newcomers.

Allen will have the opportunity to count on dynamic second-year pro Dalton Kincaid and the ever-steady Dawson Knox at tight end early, as well as James Cook in the backfield. Over time, Allen should find other players to fit in with, among a veteran group that includes Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins. It’s worth noting that Samuel already worked with offensive coordinator Joe Brady at Carolina in 2020, so he could have a leg up in the competition for targets.

The offense also features 2022 fifth-round pick Khalil Shakir, who showed signs of potential last season. Rookies Keon Coleman at receiver and Ray Davis at running back are also in the mix to make an impact.

Meanwhile, another factor to consider will be the changes to the offensive line, with a new starting center and a new left guard on board. With that in mind, it will be worth watching to see if opposing defenses can generate a disruptive attack up the middle.

Buffalo Bills sleepers in 2024

⬆️ Sleeper: WR Keon Coleman

As far as players who sleep, Coleman doesn’t exactly nap, but as an unproven rookie with tons of opportunity, he should produce more than his cost on draft day. The 4.61-second time he recorded at the combine also lowers his draft price. The departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis leave the Bills looking for replacements, and while it’s true that they’ve drafted a handful of solid veteran WRs to fill the void, Buffalo likely wants its second-round pick to fill a key role and make it work.

😴 Super Sleeper: RB Ray Davis

There’s no doubt that James Cook is Buffalo’s starting RB. The Georgia product broke out last year, but the Bills are clearly hoping Davis emerges as Cook’s running mate after selecting him in the fourth round. Even as a rookie, Davis, who averaged 5.7 YPC with 14 TDs last year at Kentucky, has plenty of experience, and he’ll be 25 during the season (as will Cook). Plus, Davis is listed as 30 pounds heavier than Cook, so there’s a good chance the former will be the goal-line running back.
