Sexual harassment: Nurse arrested for sexually harassing Kazakh woman | News from Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 25-year-old nurse from a city hospital was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 50-year-old patient from Kazakhstan. Police said the woman had undergone knee arthroscopy at Artemis Hospital on Sunday. The accused — identified as Thakur Singh, originally from Tijara in Rajasthan — had worked as a male nurse at the hospital for the past year. According to police, the patient had come to India on Friday along with her daughter. She underwent the surgery on Sunday and was later shifted to a ward for recovery. Thakur allegedly touched the woman inappropriately while her diaper was being changed. Initially, she thought it was a mistake. However, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted her several times on the same day, after which she informed her daughter, who in turn informed the hospital authorities and called the police. Based on the complaint filed by the patient’s daughter under BNS Section 64(2)(e) (rape), an FIR was lodged at Sector 50 police station on the same day. Thakur was arrested on Monday and remanded in custody after being produced before a local court. The hospital said in a statement that the safety of its patients was its top priority. “In light of this allegation, we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that all those involved are treated fairly and a thorough and impartial investigation is conducted so that truth and justice emerge. The individual has been temporarily suspended from duty pending the completion of the investigation,” it said.
