Wanted woman from Cambria County ate “bricks” of heroin during traffic stop

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – A Northern Cambria woman wanted on multiple warrants was arrested after police say she ingested 50 bags of heroin during a traffic stop.

Keriane Cameron, 30, was arrested during a traffic stop on April 25. Cameron was originally stopped because her vehicle, a white Chevrolet Silverado, had been stopped by officers on her active warrants in Cambria, Indiana and Clearfield counties.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Cameron and when asked for her identification, she allegedly said she did not have her driver’s license on her but her name was “Cloey Klingensmith.” Since there was no record of that name, officers contacted the sergeant and asked him for a photo of Cameron for comparison.

The photo clearly identified Cameron, police said in the indictment. An adult probation officer also arrived at the traffic stop and was also able to identify Cameron.

When Cameron was asked to get out of the car, she allegedly refused and locked the door. She then asked a sergeant or police officer to come to the stop. When the sergeant arrived, she also asked Cameron to get out of the car.

Cameron then put the car in gear and drove off while responding “no” to officers’ requests to get out of the vehicle, the criminal complaint states. Cameron then put the car back in gear but continued to refuse requests to get out of the car.

Officers attempted to speak with Cameron when they became aware that she had overdosed. Emergency responders were able to open the vehicle door and place Cameron on the ground so they could render aid. Officers then learned that Cameron had allegedly eaten a brick (50 bags) of heroin prior to or during the traffic stop.

Cameron was taken to Miners Hospital for treatment after emergency medical services administered Narcan.

She now faces one misdemeanor count of false identification to a police officer, one misdemeanor count of tampering with or falsifying evidence, seven misdemeanors counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and other related charges.

Cameron was released from jail on bail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18.
