Fatal collision under investigation in Aiken County

AIKEN, SC (WJBF) – One person has died following a fatal collision in Aiken County.

The accident occurred around 1:41 p.m. Wednesday on US 78 at Clippership Loop, just 2 miles east of Montmorenci.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a 2006 Chevy Malibu collided with a 2013 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu reportedly died at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The driver of the Ford Escape was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
