Atlanta Braves Probable Pitchers and Starting Lineups vs. Boston Red Sox, May 8

After suffering their first sweep of the 2024 season, the Atlanta Braves needed to bounce back in front of a packed Truist Park. Their challenge was a formidable Boston Red Sox team and one of the best starters so far in 2024.

Fortunately, the Braves rose to the challenge and managed to end their three-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory last night. The game featured Jarred Kelenic’s first home run as a Brave, so hopefully that’s a sign of things to come for him and the Atlanta offense.

Let’s take a look at the starting lineups and pitching for tonight’s game.

Chris Sale (4-1, 3.44 ERA) will make his first start against Boston in some time after spending the last seven years of his career there. The sellout was everything Braves fans hoped for, with tons of strikeouts and a number of deep starts.

Nick Pivetta (1-1, 0.82 ERA) will make only his third start of the year, after missing most of April due to right flexor strain. Pivetta is no stranger to the Braves, as he will make his 20th appearance against Atlanta tonight. In his previous works, Pivetta is 7-4 with a 5.04 ERA And 77 strikeouts. Marcell Ozuna has some of the best numbers against Pivetta, averaging .990 OPS with four home runs against the RHP.
