Houston baseball taken by storm in shortened weekend series with UCF

The Cougars lost the first two games of the series against UCF before the storms over Houston ended the series after the second game.

Game 1

The Knights got on the scoreboard immediately in the first inning, thanks to an RBI triple, followed by a two-run home run in the third to make the score 3-0. Meanwhile, Houston’s batters were only able to record one hit through the first four innings.

In the fifth, senior outfielder Cary Arbolida homered in center field to make it a 3-1 game, but UH I couldn’t take advantage of it thanks to strong throwing and defending UCF.

In the end, the Knights made it 4-1 with another RBI triple in the seventh inning and held on to win the game.

Junior pitcher Cade Citelli took the loss and brought his record to 3-2. He pitched six innings, threw 103 pitches and struck out six batters while allowing four hits and three runs.

Game 2

The second and final match of the weekend almost followed the same scenario as the first game, because the Houston offense remained obsolete, Central Florida slowly continued to fill the dashboard. However, the moment was short-lived as UCF would find the lead in the eighth inning thanks to a double RBI single and would be socket to win the match and the series 6-4.
