Piastri called to the sports commissioner because of the qualifying incident in Imola

Oscar Piastri must appear before the stewards after allegedly interfering with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas in Q1 at Imola.

The McLaren driver will report to officials at 6:15 p.m. local time for “Alleged violation of Article 37.5 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations – Car 81 unnecessarily obstructs Car 20 in Turn 2 at 4:16 p.m.,” it said in the official document of the stewards.

In the first part of qualifying, the Australian was seen ahead of Magnussen at Turn 2, which resulted in the Haas not making it to the middle of the session.

Piastri would qualify second, ahead of his teammate Lando Norris and behind Max Verstappen. If he is found guilty, he will not be allowed to keep his second starting position.

McLaren brought a number of upgrades to Miami, but the 23-year-old only got half the package, while Norris carried his updated MCL38 to his first Grand Prix victory. Now that Piastri has also reached full development, he would have hoped to be able to fight for victory against Verstappen.
