‘Prabhas is brilliant’: Arshad Warsi breaks silence on trolls who attacked him, praises Kalki Star

Arshad Warsi finally responded to the chaos after calling Prabhas’ 2898 AD Kalki character a ‘joker’. A few weeks ago, Arshad confessed that he didn’t like Kalki 2898 AD. The actor praised Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the film but felt that Prabhas’ character was reduced to a joker. The statement received strong reactions from many, including the film’s director Nag Ashwin. Arshad was also brutally trolled by Prabhas’ fans.

At IIFA 2024, Arshad opened up about the backlash he received and said that people misinterpreted his statement. Talking to ANI, Arshad said, “Everyone has their own point of view and people like to interpret noise. I was talking about the character, not the person. He (Prabhas) is a brilliant actor and he has proven himself time and again and we know about it. And when we give a good actor a bad character, it is heartbreaking for the audience.”

What did Arshad Warsi say about Prabhas and Kalki in 2898 AD?

Arshad was asked to name a bad movie he had recently seen during a podcast with Samdish Bhatia. Arshad named Kalki 2898 AD and stated, “Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker.” Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What did you make of it? Why they do such things, I never understand).”

What did Nag Ashwin say?

Director Nag Ashwin felt that Arshad could have expressed his thoughts in better words. However, he added that he did not take Arshad’s words to heart. “Arshad Saab (Sir) should have chosen his words better… but it’s fine… sending Buji toys for his kids… I will work hard so tweet… that Prabhas was the best ever in K2,” he said on X

In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kalki 2898 AD co-producer Swapna Dutt, who is also Nag’s sister-in-law, said, “I liked the way Nagi reacted to it. We stayed calm because the film proved what it was. Prabhas was fantastic in the film, as he always is. We have to leave it to the magnanimity of Nag Ashwin and Prabhas. They’re just so simple about these things.”

Meanwhile, Prabhas will bring back the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
