Dundee man dies in single-car crash on Lakemont Himrod Rd.

A Dundee man died in a single-car crash Thursday night on Lakemont Himrod Road. Deputies said Robert L. Bassett Jr., 42, was driving south when his car veered off the road and hit a tree.

Yates County Coroner’s Office pronounced Bassett dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Yates County Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Authorities are still working to determine why Bassett’s vehicle left the roadway. The incident marks the latest in a series of tragic accidents in the area.
