Minor gang raped in moving car in Gwalior; two arrested, main accused on the run | News from Bhopal

BHOPAL: A Class 9 girl was raped by three students in a moving car near Gwalior after she fell into a trap laid for her by a friend on social media, police said on Friday. Two of the youths have been arrested but the main accused is on the run.

The crime took place on June 1 in Mohana, around 60 km from Gwalior. The survivor had met the main accused, an 18-year-old, on Instagram in April this year and they started chatting regularly. He introduced her to one of his friends and invited her for a ride in his car.

The girl arrived and was surprised to find a third youth in the car. She got into the vehicle and they drove onto the highway where they committed the crime, police said.

The trio filmed the rape and tried to blackmail the young woman. They threatened to send the recordings to her parents, according to investigators. When she refused to give in, the rapists forwarded the clips to her family. The girl’s parents immediately went to the police.

A case has been filed against the three youths, aged between 18 and 20, under the Pocso Act. The car in which the minor was raped has been seized, as have the mobile phones used to record the gang rape. Forensic experts have searched the vehicle for evidence.
