The Buffalo Bills will be thrilled if this Khalil Shakir projection comes to fruition

It’s completely understandable that Buffalo Bills fans are tired of hearing about the drastic change in the receiver room heading into next season. With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis gone, the biggest question that keeps coming up is “Who is Buffalo’s number one receiver?”

It may be a well-kept secret that Buffalo doesn’t have a solid No. 1 receiver. They drafted Keon Coleman who has the potential to become Josh Allen’s No. 1 target. Tight end Dalton Kincaid could even become a Travis Kelce-type player for this offense and be the No. 1 option. One player who doesn’t get talked about enough outside of Buffalo is Khalil Shakir, who has a chance to solidify himself as the Bills’ No. 1 option this season.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine published a list of seven receivers who are in the best position for a breakout season and Shakir was listed.

“Shakir isn’t likely to absorb many of the deep targets Davis had. That role is a better fit for Coleman. But it’s hard to see anyone else adopting the manufactured touches Diggs used to see.”

Shakir wasn’t as productive on the field early last season as he was late in the season. Once Joe Brady took over the offense, Shakir was used more in plays that were relied upon to make crucial plays to keep Buffalo’s momentum going. His breakthrough game came against a very talented Jets defense, catching three passes for 115 yards and a touchdown that put the game out of reach.

Shakir is likely to be Allen’s go-to target, and if he can develop into a solid receiver, pairing him with Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel and Dalton Kincaid could really elevate this passing attack that people are worried about.
