Cam Caminiti selected by Atlanta Braves in 2024 MLB Draft | LSU

LSU left-handed pitcher and baseball player Cam Caminiti was selected by the Atlanta Braves with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft.

Caminiti struck out 119 batters in 52⅔ innings last year for Saguaro High in Arizona. He posted a 0.93 ERA and led the Sabercats to the state championship.

He was also named Arizona’s Gatorade Player of the Year and was named the top high school left-handed pitcher in this year’s draft, according to MLB.com and ESPN.

His cousin, Ken Caminiti, was a three-time All-Star and MVP at third base and played in the major leagues for 15 seasons.

Caminiti is one of two left-handed pitchers recruited by LSU. California high school star Boston Bateman, a top-60 prospect in MLB.com’s draft rankings, is the Tigers’ other recruit.

LSU also has left-handed pitchers Nate Ackenhausen, Griffin Herring and Gage Jump who are eligible for the draft. Herring and Jump were invited to participate in the MLB Draft Combine in Arizona last June.
