Joe Houston Dickey was born on January 5, 1937 in Brigham City, UT, to William Dickey and Francis (Quire-Dickey) Hougarrd. Joe returned peacefully to Heavenly Father on May 3, 2024.

He is survived by his sister Betty and preceded in death by his other siblings, William, Mildred, LouDean, Margaret and Kathi.

Joe had six children: Patty, Joy, Joe, Virgil, Rodney (deceased) and Rebecca (deceased).

Joe grew up working on a farm and always loved horses, cowboys and of course John Wayne. His career spans various jobs ranging from being a ranch hand, sheet metal mechanic, maintenance man at his friend’s trailer park, and one of his favorite jobs was working at Bogey’s Club in Clearfield.

Joe had a deep kindness and love for people, which was reflected in the way he treated those around him. He was compassionate and caring to those he knew. He was very keen to remember people on their birthdays, Christmas and other holidays; and made sure he sent cards with his own sentimental messages inside.

Dancing was a passion of Joe’s; he was known as a western dancer and would look very dapper in his western shirts and cowboy boots. Being outside and enjoying nature was a true love of Joe’s, especially when he was part of a family gathering. Joe honored his loved ones who passed away before him by making sure he brought flowers to their graves whenever he could. He lived for many years in Clearfield but always enjoyed returning to his old stomping grounds of Brigham City and Honeyville, UT.

Joe’s kindness continues as he made the decision long ago to generously donate his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post#134 located at 345 Depot Street, Clearfield UT.
