Buffalo man arraigned on charges related to stabbing, fatal shooting

A Buffalo man was arraigned Wednesday before Municipal Court Judge Tiffany R. Perry on charges related to the fatal shooting of a man in the city’s Martin Luther King Park neighborhood earlier this month and the murder of a teenager in another part of the city, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Emanuel T. “Manny” Stokes, 28, was charged with second-degree murder, second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Stokes is accused of shooting a 34-year-old man near Kehr and Urban streets early on the morning of May 12. The victim was taken in a private vehicle to Erie County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after, Stokes allegedly stabbed a teenage boy at a residence in the 200 block of Mills Street. The victim was taken by ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital with an injury to his arm and a cut to his neck.
