Intriguing position battles for the Atlanta Falcons in 2024

After AJ Terrell, how do the Atlanta Falcons field the corner position? Terrell will be the number one corner and the only current player locked into a starting position at corner. Atlanta’s biggest change at the position was the addition of veteran Kevin King.

King was cut from the league and will compete for a final roster spot. That leaves Atlanta’s starting spots up for grabs with Clark Phillips, Mike Hughes and Dee Alford the obvious options. Atlanta lost Jeff Okudah in free agency and has yet to make a decision to replace the veteran.

Aside from the pass rush, the Falcons’ biggest concern on defense is whether or not their secondary will hold up. Both Alford and Phillips are exciting young players, but neither has proven capable of being a long-term starting option.

Mike Hughes had an objectively horrible first season with Atlanta, making it surprising that the veteran remains on the roster. This is a position battle that should be wide open, with every player on the depth chart having the opportunity to make their case.
